2 Weeks Old

Hard to believe but Baby E is 2 weeks old already....now if we could only get him to sleep a little more at night and a little less during the day!!!

Car for SALE!!!

We think reality is starting to set in that our KIA Sorento - just isn't the family car we once thought it might be! We are out of room! Today we ventured out for a bit....and E had to squeeze between 2 car seats in the back. Anyone interested in a Sorento??? It's officially for sale....or at least on this blog....

Is it too soon to be wearing this stuff???

A has been quite a big help these past 2 weeks while Grandma D has been here. She helped her put on her make-up every morning - only wishing she could just figure out how to get the tubes of lip-stick completely open and on her face I'm sure. I can't even put chapstick on anymore around A - she instantly wants the tube and it goes straight into her mouth. We sure are going to miss Grandma D and all the help she has been these last 2 weeks (Thanks so much for coming and for all the work you did!!)....Soon the reality is going to hit of managing 2 kids on my own when E is at work - YIKES!! But not just yet - Grandma J is arriving tomorrow to help out for a bit!!

Sleepy Times......

We went to check on A during her nap the other day.....and I guess she is trying to tell us something....the crib just isn't big enough anymore!!! She now has to resort to placing her legs through the bars.

And....we think Baby E may have his days and nights mixed up. Last night he was up and wide awake about every hour to hour and a half. And now this morning he is sleeping about 4 hours between each feeding.......

Baby E's wardrobe

E's wardrobe consists of quite a bit of baseball themed clothing...which is great! His Dad especially is enjoying this....E & E actually sat on the couch together yesterday and took in their first Twins game together.

Curiosity.....

A is startng to become a little more curious in Baby E......she is currently always walking around saying "baby baby"....when we were up at 4am this morning changing E's diaper and getting ready to feed him...she woke up and was standing in her crib saying "baby baby".

Trouble is spelled.......

Grandpa & Grandma

Grandpa & Grandma D with 2 of their 3 grandkids!!!

A Family Photo

Here we all are...home and content at this point....I am sure the storm will come and we'll begin to think how crazy we were for having kids so close together in age!!!

A & E meet for the 1st time

A had not even seen E until today....so we knew this was going to be quite a moment. Well initially all she wanted was his pacifier - so we quickly put that up and away.

She really wasn't all that interested though.....of course it was nap time for her so she was a bit cranky...I guess we'll see how she reacts when she wakes up and realizes he is still here.

But this is were her real interest lies - the carseat and the buckles.

Were HOME!!!

We are finally all home....E got to come home bright and early this morning. I asked the Dr. yesterday about what time we could expect to come home today....just trying to get a better idea of what to expect....And he jokingly (I thought) responded 8:36 am.....Well E and I got up there about 8:15 this morning...and he was truely ready to go....

.

Relaxin'

A woke up from a 3 hour nap on Sunday and this is where she wanted to lay!!!

Sunday Best......

We tried hard today to get some pictures of E with his eyes open.....we were a bit successful....but he didn't care too much for the flash in his eyes.

This would be the picture after a full belly - He has become quite the little eater.....This morning he took a 105 ml - which is quite a bit for a baby his size. We are already starting to fear our grocery bill some day.
As of now we are definitely planning on bringing E home on Tuesday unless something drastic happens between now and then...but we are not expecting anything. He seems to be doing just great and acting just like a newborn should.

Tomorrow he should be finishing his anitibiotics and getting his pick line removed.

Thanks again to everyone for all the prayers and well wishes - it was quite a roller coaster ride this last week...but I think we are starting to see the light at the end of tunnel.

First Golf Lesson

A had her first lesson in Golf on Saturday. (sorry for the color - E was playing with the camera modes).

She was trying out Grandpa's new driver. I think it was twice as long as she is!!

This just wasn't a good lie....it didn't quite go as far as she wanted - so..........

She has already figured out all the tricks to golf - if the ball doesn't go as far or where you want it to go....you just pick it up and throw it.

Here she broke out the irons to give them a try also.

1 Week Old

Here are a few pictures of E - He's one week old today....and doing GREAT! He was changed to intermediate care today so he is still in the NICU but doesn't need as much monitoring now. He is back to demand feeding. His Ultra-sound came back with no new information or findings so that was good. They believe the bleeding has stopped in the hemorrage probably quite a while ago. So we still have high hopes that Tuesday will be the day he get's to come home!!!

Baby E Update

Well baby E didn't quite get to come home yet. I came home yesterday and we had high hopes that E would come home today, but his test results today didn't come back very good. His white blood count was up again and some other number (sorry I can't even tell what that number is) is also back up higher than it should be. So what does all this mean??? Well I actually got to visit with the Dr. for quite a while today and basically it seems based on blood tests that E is fighting some sort of bacterial infection....there really isn't a way to define it or put an exact name to it. So instead of the 3 day anitbiotics course he was on...he is now on a 7 day dose of anitbiotics. So the 7 days should now be done on Friday and if he continues to improve he would possibly get to come home on Saturday. The Dr. did say that he may be being just overly cautious but he doesn't want to send him home and than see him re-admitted which we agreed as much as we don't like him being there we don't want to have to re-admitt him after he gets home.
So I've been trying to get up there as much as possible to try and feed him and E has been trying to get up there also during his lunch break and after work. Thankfully Grandparents are allowed in there so tonight my Mom headed up there to feed him and hold him for a bit so that we can rest here at home.

Sorry - we don't really have any new pictures of baby E....so you can suffer looking at us!

Getting Closer!

We got to actually go in this afternoon and hold E and try and feed him for the very first time! He was one hungry little boy!! I fed him first and then E gave him a bottle with 14 cc in it. I think the bottle was gone in about 14 seconds.
He is completely off of the oxgyen now. He got to move into a regular crib and they put clothes on him. He will finish his last round of medicine tomorrow night and as long as his cultures keep coming back negative he will be on his way to going home very soon!

I HAVE A WHAT???

You've GOT to be Kidding ME!!

Everyone....Say Hello to My NEW baby Brother!!

Baby E has seen some improvement this morning...though we have not yet talked with the Dr. He has been almost completely weened off of the oxygen now. His white blood count has come down.....still higher than it should be...but coming down and his 24 hr. growth culture did not grow...so that means the infection is not growing. And he might just possibly be able to eat today - other than through an IV if a couple more tests come back good!!!
Also - His length is 20.5 inches - so the same as A.
And the tube coming out of his mouth is actually not his oxygen that is the tube to release excess gas in his stomach. The oxygen comes in the form of a hood that sits over top of his head...but they had removed it while I took a picture.

Introducing......

Eli Michael Egge
Born: 3-17-07
Time: 5:51 am
Weight: 8 lbs. 12 oz.
Length - don't know yet.

Update: Eli is currently in NICU and will be there for the next 3 days. He has been struggling with breathing since he was born and is currently on oxygen to help him breath. He chest x-rays are showed a possible lung infection and so they are treating it right now with anitbiotics for 3 days. His white blood cell count was also kind of high which is just another indication that he is fighting some sort of an infection - so needless to say it's been a bit of a rough start for everyone.
Thanks for all the well wishes - we are currently not really answering our cell phones all that much but we'll try to return your calls in the coming days.

Summer Time Temps

We may have skipped spring all together if we continue to have tempatures like we had today. High was 81 degrees. A just loved every opportunity she got to be outside and now that Aunt B is here visiting....she is getting to be outside a bit more...because her very very pregnant Mom isn't the only one that is having to chase her around. So - still no baby...but I am still holding out that it will happen this week or at least really really hoping!!

Rockin' Good Time

Anything A can find that rocks....she tries to climb into...unfortunately most of which she can't get into on her own....but she LOVES to rock...so she got her own rocking chair recently. She was climbing into this chair from the moment it came out of the box, before I could even get the legs on the bottom of it.
Baby Update: - Nothing yet - we are still patiently or I guess you could probably say impatiently for some waiting, waiting, waiting. Although I suppose the fact that I won't be 37 weeks until Sunday really means that we shouldn't be expecting too much just yet. Hopefully soon though.

Bye Bye!

Grandma D bought A this purse the a few weeks ago in Casper. I guess A has seen me carry a purse enough now to know that she puts it on her shoulder and says "Bye Bye" because that is exactly what she did tonight - it was too funny!
