Mug Shot

Mug Shot

Thankfully, this is a good mug shot. I am relieved and thankful that the PE has been passed and I never have to take that dreadful test again! I owe a good deal to S who banished me to the babies room to study some nights and weekends!

Post-Christmas

Post-Christmas
Originally uploaded by DoubleEE.
Call us Scrooges, but since the weather was sooo nice (mid to upper 60's) we decided to take down all of our Christmas decorations. Everything has been packed away for its eleven month rest. We do this hoping that the baby comes next week!

I'm Dreaming of a White...Halloween??

Winter Wonderland

This is what we woke up to this morning. Here it was only 1-2", but north of us and in the upper elevations of the hills they saw a bit more. The schools in Spearfish and Belle Fourche (~50 miles away) were closed today. Unfortunately for S, Rapid City schools were open and on-time.

It's Done!

It's Done!

Tuesday night we finished up the nursery! The hours of hard work paid off and both of us are happy with the outcome. S is quite the decorator, E is the manual labor! Thankfully the decorator does a great job and is happy with the result, so the manual labor doesn't have to do anymore!

Today we drove into the Spearfish Canyon to enjoy the colors that were at their peak. The cool tempatures over the past week have provided a gorgeous scenery, signaling the start of our fall season.

Phase I of the nursery is complete. Much to the relief of E there will not be any stenciling. More to come.....

New Wheels

New Wheels
Originally uploaded by DoubleEE.
The reality that a new family member will be arriving before we know it was reinforced by the new set of wheels we now have! Monday evening was spent assembling our daughters new chariot...er stroller and marveling at the features and superb engineering. Maybe just E on that last part.

On a related note, today the much anticipated bedding arrived for the crib. That means one thing...E will be painting this weekend. In order to make sure E wasn't caught off guard, S made sure to mention that stenciling may be involved. Of course, it is all worth it!

It's A Girl!!

It's A Girl!!

Yesterday we learned that we are going to be the parents of a little baby girl!! As you can imagine we are both excited and happy that everything is progressing nicely and the baby is healthy. It is amazing to see the ultrasound and look at the babies development.

S is happy because she gets to keep and use the cute girl clothes she bought. I couldn't keep the smile off of my face yesterday! Yesterday was also S's birthday...what a birthday present!

Bundle of Joy

The newest addition
Originally uploaded by DoubleEE.
In an attempt to downsize our office to make room for the nursery, we decided to buy a computer that would fit better in with the guest bed. I am sure that many of my friends will be shocked to look and see that it is a MAC! Now that we have it and are getting used to how it operates, we are quite happy with our decision.

I'm just worried that I'll want to buy a VW Bug next. The little Apple sticker we got just doesn't look right in the rear window of a Nissan Sentra.

Finished Product

Done for the summer
Originally uploaded by DoubleEE.
Last weekend we finally finished shoveling rock...all 8 cubic yards of it. Unfortunately, we are about 5-10 shovels full short in the front yard island. We made sure the bare part is on the house side so no one would ever know.

Now we are satisfied with what we accomplished for this summer season and are ready to relax and enjoy the yard!

Worth it

After a few nights of laying landscaping fabric and learning the art of rock distribution, we are pleased with how our project is turning out. We have the east (front) and south side finished, but for trimming the fabric. About a quarter of the west side is done, but overall a little more than half is done.

Life Isn't Fair

This is what it comes down to: hours are spent raking rocks out of the dirt for the lawn. Many are shoved under the decks to get them out of sight. What is the next landscaping step...BUYING rocks to put next to the house. Landscapers have it figured out...they charge you to pick rocks out of your yard and haul them away. Then they charge you to bring in rock and properly place it in your yard.

More power to 'em!

The Payoff

All the hard work did pay off and plants are growing. Unfortunately they were not all intended or welcome. One doesn't need to go to the fields of north-central North Dakota to see a sunflower field.
