This storm tops every storm I've ever posted about and probably will for a long time......So far we have about 12 inches of snow with wind speeds averaging around 55 mph with gusts even stronger at times. Needless to say Rapid City and the surrounding areas are all having a "SNOW DAY" - unless of course you work for the power company then it is essential you go to work. ( you must click on the pictures to make them larger to do them some justice to how bad it really is here)
Well, this is as far as E got this morning going to work - the end of our driveway and the ole' Nissan got stuck. Our neighbor said we wouldn't get anywhere without 4 wheel drive so we didn't attempt to get the van out and even 4 wheel drive trucks were getting stuck out on our street. E ended up having to call a friend with 4 wheel to take him to work - because he was so desperately needed - we've yet to determine how he will be getting home.
A view out our front door - to the side deck. All of our windows were coated with snow and ice this morning so we couldn't even see what was going on outside without opening the door. Our power went out sometime in the night and finally came back on around nine - thank goodness it was starting to get a bit chilly in the house.
A & E's new playhouse in the backyard - snow drifts all around.
You can see that some of the drifts are at least 3 feet or more when looking how far them come up on our fence.
And the playground - buried....but by tomorrow it will all be gone.
And Finally the snow drift on our neighbors house behind us......all the way up to there 2nd story window.

That is so crazy! I was feeling sorry for my kids because we got a little 1/4 an inch of snow and they couldn't go outside and play!! Looks like you might need a 4 wheel drive!
