When life hands you lemons......

UPDATE: We have received official word this afternoon that is in fact
Hodgkin Lymphoma
(we don't know any other specifics beyond that but will be meeting with Dr.'s later this week)

I guess you make some lemonade.......

When you call out me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers. - Jeremiah 29.12

Some of you are aware of what has been transpiring in our lives over the last week and others of you are not. Eric and I have nothing to hide and we would welcome all the prayers we can get.

One week ago today Eric went in for a routine physical - nothing alarming other than his extreme amount of weight loss over the last year and a swollen lymph node that has been on going for a over a year now. In Aug. of 08 Eric went to the Dr. for this swollen lymph node and it was assumed it was something viral - he was given antibiotics and we went on with life. The swollen lymph node never went away but it also never bothered him - so we just didn't do anything about it. This swollen lymph node however was very alarming to his Dr. last Wednesday, she scheduled an immediate CT Scan of his neck which he had last Thursday and those results came back as very alarming to both the Dr. and Radiologist. It was determined that the swollen lymph node looked very much like lymphoma a type of caner in the lymph nodes. On Friday Eric had a more extensive CT scan and those results showed us that it has not really spread much further than his neck - GREAT NEWS!!

Yesterday, (Tuesday) Eric had a biopsy of the swollen lymph node - which required surgery on Eric's part. The Dr. again felt pretty confident that the tissue was what he would expect to see with lymphoma. So today we begin the waiting process, waiting for the "official" diagnosis of Lymphoma and where will go from here. We hope to have some answers by the end of the week and hope to have more definite answers early next week so we can meet with an oncologist and begin a treatment plan for Eric.

How are we doing: - Well Eric is doing pretty good, obviously yesterday was not such a fun day, recovering from surgery and anesthesia is never fun as he experienced for the first time yesterday.
His spirits are high and he feels very strongly that all of this is treatable.
Me - I guess you could say I am doing better - I guess the hardest part has been taking this all in stride and being 32 weeks pregnant and not wanting to go into labor too soon.
Kids - They really don't grasp the full magnitude I suppose and they don't need to. They know Eric is sick and has a battle wound on his neck right now....but it will heal.

Our families and friends have been a huge support system to us already and we are so thankful for that because we couldn't possibly do it without them right now.

The Lord gives me strength and protects me; he has become my deliverer.
Psalm 118:14

And because Eric gave me permission..... for any of you that would like to take a visible glance at his current battle wound....here you go!

First of all, I am amazed you were even able to take this picture, Suzie, knowing your queasiness with such things!
Second, and most important, you have been in our thoughts and prayers all week and will continue to be as Eric goes through treatment. Let us know if we can be of any help. Much love.

Susie and Eric, Jim and I are thinking of you and hoping (praying-because that's what works) for a great outcome. It will be great if it is very localized, so he will have minimal treatment. We care so much for you and your little family. Take care. Marjie

Hi Egge Family, so sorry to hear this news. A very scary time, I'm sure. On a positive note, my good friend Marc has just went through this same experience 2-3 years ago. Marc was taken from his surgery to another floor of the hospital for the birth of his second daughter! Quite a roller-coaster. Anyways, Marc's was quite bad, stage 3 (at least), and it had spread. The good news, today he has a clean bill of health and is doing great! Wishing you the best through your treatment. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
Love - Anne & Korey
